Indeed, there are a lot of similarities to Swan Lake. Both is set in Germany. The hero is called Friedbert and he has a mother as only relative. His best friend is named Benno, though an elder monk here. The Swan maiden is called Kalliste and a Greek princess. She has a similar tragic back story because her mother was a swan maiden, too, and the evil father hindered her from her youth fountain. Friedbert steals the veil and says it would be an haunting wizard. But when Kalliste will later find out the truth, she flys away. The superstitious people think that Kalliste was a demon and Friedbert a wizard. Friedbert searches for his girl and she forgives him. Add Cinderella for the stepmother and the prince and the ball, Stella, Melusine,a bit Odette de Champdivers, Odile of Alsace, Barbarossa, Siegfried and the Valkyrie, and the riddle of the Swan Lake by Tchaikovsky and Reisinger is solved!!Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00896786559499877861noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6968132365438511409.post-4298990515912799872013-02-10T11:50:41.161-06:002013-02-10T11:50:41.161-06:00Thanks so much!
