You know, the stories like "Diamonds and Toads," and "Mother Holle?" That kind of story. It's called "The Twelve Months," which I think is a Russian tale.

I don't know though. Maybe there is a version of Snow White that has twelve months.Ozfan95https://www.blogger.com/profile/14766400170098200286noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6968132365438511409.post-73648555003829655762016-03-09T08:55:46.610-06:002016-03-09T08:55:46.610-06:00I never did see Mirror Mirror! The fact that the dwarfs are robbers makes me hope the makers did research into the tale and that was a nod to many of the older versions!Kristinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01097525403940409218noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6968132365438511409.post-7901603086140473002016-03-09T00:34:29.628-06:002016-03-09T00:34:29.628-06:00I agree about the creepiness of the prince - but a...I agree about the creepiness of the prince - but also the notion of setting a presumably dead body in a glass coffin to rot! Eew! Just as well she isn't dead.

Did you see the very silly but amusing Mireor, Mirror? In it, the seven dwarfs ARE a band of robbers. I like how this plays with typical fairy tale character types. Usually thieves/dragons/ogres/etc are bad, but here they help Snow White.

The ring is interesting, too. Since rings are used as a symbol of engagement and marriage, it's almost like Snow White being harmed by one is a warning or foreshadowing of the bad treatment she could face from a future husband (like the creepy Italian prince!)Amyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13311936206951108530noreply@blogger.com
